What a DBS certificate is and when you might need one
A DBS check is carried out by the UK government's Disclosure and Barring Service. It is a record of a person's criminal convictions and cautions, and is commonly required when working with children or young people.
Do I need a DBS certificate to tutor with Lanterna?
A DBS certificate is not required for online private tutoring with Lanterna. However, if you are also interested in substitute teaching assignments through our Schools team, a DBS certificate may be required. For any questions about substitute teaching, please contact the Schools team directly at schools@lanterna.com.
Sharing your DBS certificate with us
If you already hold a DBS certificate, we encourage you to share it with us, we can store it on your profile for reference. To do so, please send a copy of your certificate or your Update Service information to tutoring@lanterna.com.
Please note that a DBS check only covers criminal offences in England, Wales, the Channel Islands, and the Isle of Man.
