Written Assignments Tuition Policy

How to support students with written work at Lanterna Education

The Written Assignments Tuition Policy sets out how you must approach supporting students with any assessed written work, including Internal Assessments (IAs), Extended Essays (EEs), Theory of Knowledge (TOK) essays, and any other assessed written assignments.

You must read this policy in full before supporting any student with written work. Academic integrity is taken extremely seriously at Lanterna Education and by the IBO. Any breach of the IBO's Academic Integrity Policy can have serious consequences for the student, including failing the diploma programme, and may result in the immediate termination of your tutoring assignments with us.

The policy covers:

  • Why academic integrity matters and what is at stake for students
  • Document access and permissions -- what rights you should and should not have on a student's document
  • What you cannot do when supporting students with written work
  • What you can do to provide effective and appropriate support
  • The use of AI tools in relation to student assessed work
  • How different schools may interpret the IBO's policy differently

If you are ever uncertain about whether a particular form of support is appropriate, please contact us at tutoring@lanterna.com before proceeding. If a student or family is pressuring you to provide support that goes beyond what is permitted, please contact us immediately.
