How do I keep my Portal profile up to date?
What to include in your profile and why it matters when we link tutors with students.
Your Portal profile is one of the main things we look at when linking tutors with students, so please keep it accurate at all times. We recommend reviewing your whole profile at least once a year, ideally before the start of the academic year.
Where to find your profile
Log in to the Portal and open your profile from the left-hand menu.
What to include
- Contact details: your up-to-date phone number and address. If you move to or from the UK, also tell us at tutoring@lanterna.com, as we need to update your contract.
- Education: every degree and qualification you hold, with certificates attached where possible. Graduate Tier tutors should include details of their IB education. Teacher and Specialist Tier tutors should add their IB CAT certificates.
- Teaching experience: your past teaching and work experience, certificates and any other relevant qualifications.
- Your support: "Your style" (how you approach lessons) and "Your experience" (your tutoring and subject background). Write in a friendly first-person tone and do not mention other tutoring agencies.
- Hardware setup: your camera, microphone and internet connection.
Introduction video
Please add a short video introducing yourself. Your video should be about 1 minute 30 seconds long. Briefly introduce yourself and cover your education, your teaching or tutoring experience, and the subjects you teach.
When recording:
- Film in a quiet place with no background noise.
- Keep the camera steady, for example on a stand or a flat surface.
- Choose a plain, distraction-free background.
What you cannot edit yourself
Your bank details and approved subjects can only be changed by us. If these need to be changes, please contact us by writing to tutoring@lanterna.com.
