Technical tips for your online lessons
What you need for a smooth online lesson, and common fixes
Online lessons work best with a little setup. Here's what you need and how to fix the most common issues.
What you need
- A stable internet connection.
- A working camera and microphone (headphones help you hear clearly and cut echo).
- A quiet, well-lit space.
- A recent web browser, or the video app your tutor uses (e.g. Zoom, Google Meet or Microsoft Teams) installed and up to date.
Common fixes
- If your camera or microphone doesn't work, check your browser or app has permission to use them.
- If the call is laggy, close other heavy apps and browser tabs, and turn off other downloads.
- If you get disconnected, refresh and rejoin, or restart your router.
- If it still won't work, try a different browser or device.
