Elite IB tutor tiers
This information relates only to EIB tutors.
At EIB, our tutors are divided into tiers. Our tier system helps students and families quickly understand the experience of a tutor, and remunerates tutors with greater experience at a higher rate.
We place tutors into these tiers when they first join us or when we review tutors' tiers in the summer each year before the start of the academic year.
Broadly speaking, tutors need the following experience for each tier:
- Top Tier (TT): Tutors who are placed into the ‘Top’ tier are often tutors who have come to us with years of experience teaching the IB, they may be former IB teachers or IB Examiners. They're typical the heads of department's, headteachers, or have help other similar positions. Tutors from this tier must have demonstrated the outstanding quality of their support in addition to their professional experience, either through having supported numerous EIB students and only receiving an exemplary feedback, or by approaching EIB with the same quality of references.
- Higher Tier (HT): The ‘Higher’ tier of tutors in generally populated with tutors who work professionally teaching the IB, but who have less professional experience than a Top Tier tutor and/or less experience professionally tutoring students one-on-one.
- Standard Tier (ST): The ‘Standard’ tier of tutor is where many of our tutors begin before progressing through the tier structure. Tutors are often placed into this category when they have no prior experience supporting students in the International Baccalaureate or aren’t an IB graduate themselves but hold a postgraduate degree in their chosen field of support. Almost invariably, individuals who tutor with Elite IB begin as full-time university students who have graduated the IBDP, and who were placed into the ‘Standard’ tier first.
