What are credits, and do they expire?

How credits work and how long they last

When you buy tutoring hours, those hours become credits in your account. It's simple: 1 credit = 1 hour of live tutoring. If you buy a 10-hour package, you'll see 10 credits on your Portal, and each hour of lesson time uses one credit.

A credit counts as "used" once the lesson has taken place (your tutor marks it complete). A credit can also be used if a lesson is missed or cancelled at very short notice — see our lesson cancellation article for how that works.

Do credits expire?

Yes — credits have a validity window that depends on the package you bought, measured from the date of purchase:

  • Standard: 3–6 months
  • Multi: around 10 months
  • Flex: 18–24 months

Larger packages give you longer to use your hours, which is one reason many families choose Multi or Flex. We'll send you reminders as your credits approach their expiry date, so you have time to plan your remaining lessons.

If you're worried about using your hours in time — for example because of exams, illness or a holiday — please get in touch before they expire. We'll always try to help.
