School Support | Availability, schedules, and keeping Hive accurate
Keep availability and schedules accurate in Hive. Many scheduling issues are caused by outdated availability or unrefreshed calendars.
Short answer
Your Hive availability and calendar need to reflect reality. This is one of the most important habits in School Support.
Why it matters
Lanterna uses your stated availability when:
- allocating work
- deciding whether you can take extensions
- checking whether schedule changes are realistic
- deciding whether you may be overloaded
Common issues this prevents
- accepting work you cannot actually teach
- missing newly added sessions
- confusion over whether lessons continue beyond a visible date
- clashes across multiple assignments
- avoidable back-and-forth with schools and Lanterna
What to do regularly
Check Hive and make sure:
- your availability is current
- your actual lesson calendar matches what the school is expecting
- extensions or added sessions have been reflected properly
- any holiday / Ramadan / time-shift constraints are visible and discussed early
If something is missing from the calendar
If a school says lessons should continue or extra sessions exist but you cannot see them:
- do not assume the school is wrong
- do not assume Hive is wrong
- ask Lanterna to confirm what the live schedule should be
Best practice
The more proactive you are about your schedule, the fewer operational issues you will face later.
