School Support | Confirming job offers, changing availability, and timing conflicts
When a role is offered, confirm clearly and quickly. If your availability changes or there is a timing conflict, flag it immediately and do not assume the school can be flexible.
Short answer
If you are offered a role, reply clearly and promptly. If you later realise there is a timing issue, raise it immediately — but do not assume the school can move the schedule.
If you want to accept
Your reply should make clear:
- that you accept the role
- that the proposed times work
- and that you understand the next step is setup in Hive / onboarding into the assignment
If there is a conflict
If there is a timing conflict:
- say exactly which session(s) are the issue
- say whether there is any flexibility on your side
- do not over-promise availability you cannot actually sustain
Important operational principle
If a school’s schedule cannot move, Lanterna may need to place another teacher. This is better than starting a role with a known delivery conflict.
What helps the team make a decision
Useful details include:
- timezone
- exact unavailable slots
- whether the conflict is one-off or ongoing
- whether you can still cover part of the assignment consistently
Best practice
It is better to raise a genuine timing issue early than to accept the role and then withdraw once the school has been set up.
