School Support | Safeguarding, whistleblowing and urgent concerns
If you have a safeguarding or whistleblowing concern, treat it as urgent, escalate it promptly, and follow Lanterna policy rather than handling it informally.
Short answer
If you have a safeguarding concern or need to whistleblow, treat it as urgent and escalate it through Lanterna rather than trying to manage it informally yourself.
What counts as an urgent concern
Examples include concerns about:
- student welfare
- inappropriate conduct
- serious policy breaches
- a situation involving a parent, school, staff member or student that may create a safeguarding risk
What to do
- email schools@lanterna.com
- make it clear that it is urgent
- provide the facts as clearly as possible
- follow the safeguarding policy and onboarding guidance you have been given
Why urgency matters
Safeguarding is an area where over-escalation is generally safer than under-escalation.
Important reminder
Lanterna requires teachers to meet training and compliance expectations, including safeguarding-related processes. Failure to follow safeguarding requirements can be treated seriously.
