How long is a lesson, and how do credits map to time?
Lesson length and how credits convert to time
Lanterna tutoring works on a simple, transparent basis: 1 credit = 1 hour of live tutoring.
Most lessons are one hour long, which uses one credit. But you and your tutor can agree longer sessions if that suits you better — for example, a 1.5-hour session uses 1.5 credits, and a 2-hour session uses 2 credits. Longer sessions can be helpful for essay work, exam revision, or when you want to dig deeper into a topic.
You decide together what works best for you, and your tutor books the session (and the matching credits) into the Portal so everything stays clear and easy to track.
Next step: Talk to your tutor about the lesson length that suits your goals. Not sure how many credits you have left, or have a question? Message us on live chat or email tutoring@lanterna.com.
